Bravo coffee, stanmore
Bravo coffee. Mostly dedicated to the sale of fresh roasted coffee, but has some seating, and serves a range of coffees. A number of amusing signs adorn the walls.
Coffee - a short black - is a little thin, and has a range of other flavours: for some [...]

This morning, very early, I had my first ever session at a running clinic. Why? I really like running, but I keep trying it, and then getting injured. I’ve been told that this is likely due to poor running technique, the price was right, and so on my day-at-college, I head over the bridge for [...]

After you’ve preached, let it go and sleep like a Calvinist; and other reflections on preaching by Mark Driscoll.
(It’s probably worth explaining that a Calvinist understanding of Christianity is that the Christian’s standing with God is all about what God has done, not about what they do: Hence a Calvinist would sleep very well, safe [...]

DVD: Serenity
Watched this on DVD, having already seen it at the movies. It stands up well, although on the small screen, it actually feels smaller, and seems to move through faster. Still has a great sense of humour, good character interplay, and is enjoyable to watch.

Maldini’s caffe, strathfield
Primo coffee. Part café, part gelato bar, this is an outpost of strathfield plaza, and the most inviting of the cafes in its surrounds. A mix of ages are breaking fast here, or stopping for a coffee and a chat.
Coffee arrives promptly: the latte is all head, [...]

Jamaica blue, greenwood plaza north sydney
Jamaica blue coffee. Lots of natural light floods this place, in the heart of the shopping centre. Three staff handle the morning rush.
Coffee is made quickly, and is a good temperature. It’s a little on the thin side, but tastes good, in a mainstream [...]

A few weeks have passed, so I can now relate how I found out that a least one Private Hospital in Sydney doesn’t have a Mortuary.
Not so long before, in response to a series of events in her life, I’d given my friend a copy of a book - If I were God, I’d end [...]

The croydon café, croydon
Mocha coffee. As close as a shop can get to croydon station, this café has indoor seating for about 15, and outdoor seating, in front, and in a courtyard for another twenty or so.
The only café i’ve ever seen with a surcharge for weekends, the staff [...]

The glow café, newtown
Aroma coffee. This is the café I’ve seen for years at the corner of king st and sydney park rd. Inside, it’s pure newtown: lounges, old furniture, even a courtyard with some outdoor seats.
Coffee is good, but not great: strong, good texture. Good food choices, an [...]

Book: The Pig That Wants to Be Eaten: Books: Julian Baggini
I know it’s been a while since I posted a book review: the nature of the study I’m doing is that I’m reading pieces of all kinds of books, but it’s rare that I get the chance to read a book in its entirety.
I made [...]

Briciola ristorante / cafe, concord
Danesi caffe coffee. In the heart of expensive concord, this café has an italian theme.
Coffee arrives promptly, is a drinkable temperature but a little too foamy. I don’t think I’m a fan of this blend. Worth a look for the latte cups.
Movie: Confetti
British humour; mostly played for laughs, but there are some moments of emotion. Caution: the naturalists’ wedding is fairly confronting stuff.
Yes, it’s a comedy, but if you watch this film, you’ll probably find yourself barracking for the success of each relationship, regardless of the moral framework that you have. If you’ve ever gone through [...]
