Schibello coffee. Looking very modern, with slate, dark wood and metal interior, this new café has appeared on mount st with seating for about 20 inside and outside. The manager is friendly, enthusiastic and efficient, taking orders and [...]

Manhattan house blend coffee. On walker st, a new foyer leads to another café opening up. As close to five-star hospitality as you’ll get in north sydney, the staff are professional and friendly.
Coffee is a good temperature [...]

wicket

While offline over the weekend, I needed to work out the answer to a Star Wars trivia question, so I sent a text message to a friend: “What is the name of the main ewok in ROTJ?”, and received back a one-word message as an answer: “Wicket”.
Turns out that my mobile number wasn’t in the [...]

I’ve moved everything across to wordpress: excuse the dust while everything settles.

Book: Evangelism and the Sovereignty of God

Evangelism and the Sovereignty of God
J.I. Packer has written a work in answer of the question “If God is sovereign - if He controls everything, then why should we tell people about Jesus?”. What is the difference between the precepts of God (what God wants from our behaviour) and the purpose of God (the plans: [...]

DVD: Plan 9 from Outer Space

DVD: Plan 9 from Outer Space
Called the worst film ever made, and perhaps this is fair, this is the science fiction tale of a group of aliens and their sinister plot. Watchable mainly for how poorly made it is, it has stood the test of time quite well.

deer hunters

From the file of unlikely religious groups: Christian Deer Hunters. Perhaps they’re unfamiliar with the story of St Giles, who it seems was killed by a deer hunter’s errant arrow.

Caffe migliore coffee. Across the road from stanmore station, this place boasts a range of pastries that are expertly made, a coffee machine and a mount franklin fridge. Trains and traffic provide the soundscape for the outdoor tables; the indoor [...]

Dolci dolci café, rhodes

Dolci dolci café, rhodes

Lavazza coffee. Overlooking the local gloria jeans, and the general pedestrian entrance to rhodes shopping centre. A range of pastries are on sale.
A flat white is ready very quickly, and while the temperature is good, it’s a fairly weak, thin coffee with a bit too much nuttiness.

Navigator café, rhodes

Navigator café, rhodes

Mokador coffee. Lots of daylight streams into the café through the floor to high ceiling windows. It’s raining outside, but the mood inside is busy.
Coffee, when it arrives is well-made, although the milk doesn’t look quite perfect. Still, in rhodes, there aren’t many options, and this one is certainly [...]

australian barista championships

Inspired by a text message to listen to an interview with (latte art guru) Scott Gallagher, I found someone’s photos from last year’s Pura Milk Latte Art Championship (see if you can spot Richard from Grind).

The cherry bean coffee house and deli, glebe

The cherry bean coffee house and deli, glebe

Aroma coffee - unreviewed. Has a small backyard with strict council regulations as to seating, and a range of large meals at large, if familiar prices.

The coffee box café, katoomba

The coffee box café, katoomba

Coffee box coffee. Mostly pizza and othyer lunchtime options, this is a late-lunch dream come true as we wander in a little after 5 on a saturday afternoon. The flashing coloured lights are a little distracting from the window seat, but you’re compensated with views of drivers [...]

Calipso café, burwood.

Calipso café, burwood.

Schibello caffe coffee. Still getting ready for a cold winter’s day, the staff seem fairly rushed: one barista also handling front of house, another person out the back. All outdoor seating, in a somewhat enclosed space, and the prices seem reasonable.
Coffee is quite well made, a little hot - [...]
