Book: Fit Bodies Fat Minds: Why Evangelicals Don’t Think and What to Do About It
A survey of the history of the Evangelical approach to academic thinking over the past few centuries, and in particular what is wrong with the Evangelical anti-intellectualism that has become a part of its culture. A good survey of history and influences, some solid thinking material, but even having read the book, I’m not entirely sure what to do about it.
A friend and I each bought a copy of this at Koorong about ten years ago, and I’ve finally read my copy: not sure if he’s read his yet. Not the easiest read in the world (due to its academic nature), but worth the effort.

I wonder what exactly is meant by evangelicals being anti-intellectual? Think that needs carefully defining, as ‘evangelical’ means many different things in different parts of the world…
In the book, it’s a focus on a group of American Christians who have thrown off their intellectual heritage, and - for a range of reasons - keep things dumbed down.
