Movie: Transformers
There aren't many movies that are based on toys, and this is probably the best movie adaptation of a toy to-date. Loud, with a thumping soundtrack, an amazing array of highly detailed special effects, and a strong sense of the legacy (of a cartoon show and childhood memories) it represents. It also manages to be crass from time to time, but overall, the sense of childhood wonder drowns out everything else.
It's better than you would expect from a movie based on robots that transform into cars.

it was *way* cool!!
I liked too. I thought it couldnt really decide whether it wanted to be an adults or childrens film. The M rating is odd when it's compared to the bumbling, inspector-gadgetesk nature of "Sector Seven" (a seemingly unnecessary addition to the movie!).
There were really two movies in one, weren't there: it was part Terminator, and part Inspector Gadget.
